Meine Damen und Herren, unser heutiges Thema: Sollten Unternehmen verpflichtendes Homeoffice einführen — drei Tage pro Woche für alle? Frau Brandt, Sie sind dafür. Herr Yilmaz, Sie sind dagegen. Frau Brandt, beginnen Sie bitte.
Ladies and gentlemen, our topic today: should companies introduce mandatory home office — three days a week for everyone? Ms. Brandt, you're in favor. Mr. Yilmaz, you're against. Ms. Brandt, please begin.
- Frau Brandt
Danke.
Thank you. I advocate three mandatory home-office days, for three reasons: first, commuting measurably lowers productivity. Second, companies save considerably through smaller offices. Third, remote work expands the talent pool to all of Germany instead of a radius of thirty kilometers.

Herr Yilmaz, Ihre Eröffnung.
Mr. Yilmaz, your opening.
- Herr Yilmaz
I don't dispute any of the three figures — I dispute the conclusion. Mandatory home office treats employees like a homogeneous mass. Young colleagues who are only building their networks don't learn half of what they learn in the corridor via video. For them the setback is demonstrably the greatest.
- Frau Brandt
A valid point, but it argues against rigid rulebooks, not against home office itself. My position deliberately allows exceptions: teams in their trial phase can agree on different rules than experienced departments.
- Herr Yilmaz
As soon as you allow exceptions, though, the mandate is no longer an instrument but a default setting with application bureaucracy. Why don't we regulate it like the Scandinavian companies: two days guaranteed, the rest negotiated locally?
- Frau Brandt
Because local negotiation in practice means the strongest manager wins, not the best solution. A statutory minimum — that's what many studies speak of — is the only protection for people in weaker negotiating positions.
- Herr Yilmaz
There we're closer together than it appears. I too consider two guaranteed days sensible. My objection is aimed at the number three and the words «for everyone».

So we have a common basis: two guaranteed days. The difference lies with day three and the mandate. Ms. Brandt, briefly summarized: why is day three decisive?
- Frau Brandt
Because the third day is the difference between concession and normality. Only what is mandatory permanently changes company culture — everything else remains a privilege of the boldest.
- Herr Yilmaz
And precisely therefore I say: culture doesn't grow through obligation but through proof. Show the executives two good years with two days — then they'll demand the third themselves.

A debate rich in differences with surprising closeness at the end. Let me summarize: two days of consensus; day three remains disputed. Many thanks to both — and in two days we'll discuss the four-day model.
